Improvement of the Waste Management Situation in Vietnamese

Berlin/Hanoi. The firm ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH will extend its existing waste management project in Vietnam on behalf of EPOS Health Consultants GmbH. The overall project is financed by the KfW bank group.
Since mid-2005, ETLog Health GmbH has been working successfully for EPOS Health Consultants GmbH in Vietnam. Until now, investigations have been carried out in hospitals in Son La, Lao Cai, Hai Phong and Binh Phuoc.
The results were convincing in terms of the up-to-date facts regarding waste type, quantities, storage and the systems of disposal. At the same time, waste-management teams were deployed in individual hospitals. The teams consist of hospital personal from the areas of administration, nursing care, radiology and technical assistance. Together with Vietnamese clinical employees, the Berlin-based firm developed and implemented decisive improvements to the situation in selected facilities of the health service.

The results were presented at a conference. The noticeable successes of the measures convinced the client. “We were able to ascertain noticeable improvements directly after the start of the project. In the area of work safety for instance, we can give the example of the minimization of injuries resulting from sharp, pointed objects“ thus Jan-Gerd Kühling from ETLog Health GmbH.

The project is now to be extended to 5 further hospitals. Synergy effects will arise from the use of the recently collected data and the experience gathered. Time is not the only important effect: the more effective use of money from German aid foundations is also of importance. This extension of the project also has as its aim, the introduction of a system waste of management and the increased safety of waste disposal.
ETLog Health GmbH will carry out a total of 2 assignments. The project will end in October 2006.

ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH is a service provider for the healthcare sector - waste hospital.
