NigeriaDotCom launches Nigeria 2009: FIFA U17 World Cup 2009 Website
Responding to the call for private participation in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009, holding in Nigeria from October 24th to November 16th 2009, Tridas Net Ltd has created a tourism based website to promote events taking place during the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009, holding in Nigeria between October 24th and Nov 16th 2009.The site will also act as online media platform that local Nigerian businesses can utilise to take advantage of the media spotlight that will accompany the hosting of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009.
The site was built in Nigeria by a local web design house, Tridas Net Ltd, using Drupal.
"The Nigerian government is spending billons hosting the World Cup. We believe that Nigerian businesses and organisations should have a low cost way to tap into the goodwill that that level spending is designed to generate." said Ade Atobatele, CEO of Tridas Net Ltd, the company that built the site.
"We looked around and found that there was no on-line avenue for local Nigerian businesses to showcase themselves, during the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009. Neither was there any online information regarding targeted at visitors to the event. worldcup2009.nigeria.com aims to fill that gap."
Local businesses can add a free profile page on the worldcup2009.nigeria.com website. Profile pages can contain multimedia, including video, podcasts, and photos. The profiles are used to populate the "Things to Do and Places to go" directory.
"We also looked to build a site that was more than just brochureware. So we integrated social networking and other community features in to it. Visitors can join supporters groups or create their own, as well as blog, discuss, and conduct polls"
"The site also contains an events calender and we are hoping to use it encourage local businesses in to create special events and competitions relating to the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup ."
We hope to partner with a new media based newspaper to publish, daily, the events calender so that people without access to the Internet can also find out what's going on.
For the first time visitor to Nigeria, the site also features information om immigration and customs, travel, hotels, and money issues.
Acknowledging the power of social networking, the site will be advertised on Facebook, from Oct 1st 2009 until Nov 16th 2009, targeting 16-45 year old, male and females, residing in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009 participating countries.
In addition news, blogs, polls and other information posted to the site will be posted to Twitter (#Nigeria2009) and the NigeriaDotCom's Facebook page.
Advertisers will get free advertising for paid adverts placed before Oct 1st 2009. Finder's fee's will be paid to individuals and companies that introduce advertisers and sponsors to us. Priority will be given to local businesses and State tourism and investment boards looking to promote local tourism and business opportunities
