Mexico targets India’s outbound tourist

The Mexico Tourism Board plans to target over 200,000 Indian outbound visitors to Mexico by 2022 from the current count of 70,000 visitors per year from this region. Th above was announced in a seminar organized by The Embassy of Mexico in India and Mexico tourism Board in collaboration with Travel+Leisure India & South Asia.



Ambassador Melba Pria, Ambassador of Mexico in India, said, “We are happy to see a steady growth in Indian tourists to Mexico and are confident that this trend will continue. We are extremely delighted in targeting the outbound tourists from India by focusing on the vibrant, multi-faceted experiences that keep visitors coming back to Mexico and its multiple destinations.”



Mr. Guillermo Eguiarte, Regional Director – Mexico Tourism Board, shared the campaign `Mexico, A World of Its Own’ showcasing that Mexico is a world that awakens the drive to explore, to imagine, to feel. He said, “Travelers from all over the world have recognized Mexico as one of the most welcoming and friendly places to visit." Mexico's sustained, fast growth is a testament to the quality and diversity in the tourism offering and the hard work for the entire industry, both internationally and domestically.



“Mexico, A World of Its Own” campaign highlights the sheer scale and diversity of Mexico’s tourism destinations and comes at a time when Mexico has climbed from the 15th (2012) to the 8th most visited country in the world (source: UNWTO), outpacing the global industry average in growth, by several times.



With a history of more than 3,000 years, which is a legacy from indigenous civilizations, European influence, and centennial linkages with the Asia Pacific region; Mexico counts on more than 30,000 archaeological sites where Chichén Itza are Teotihuacan are some of the iconic sites of these ancient civilzations. It boasts 34 World Heritage Sites as declared by UNESCO, such as the Mexican Gastronomy, the Mariachimusic and the festivities of the Day of dead, just to mention some. Mexico has also beautiful sunny beaches, as well as a great variety of flora and fauna that includes one of the planet’s greatest reef reserves.



Mexico Tourism Board's strategy focus on expanding the offer of products and promoting Mexico´s destinations targeting important areas such as luxury, weddings and romance, diving, biodiversity and nature, culture, gastronomy, MICE, sports and adventure, as well as different audience segments such as millennialsand retirees.



In each of these areas, partnerships with key destinations as well as local travel agencies and operators will bring an ever-expanded portfolio of options to Indian travellers. These industry partnerships are critical to Mexico's goal to appeal to a broader audience and to reach the ambitious goal of 200,000 visitors from India.
