Cyclospora cayetanensis, a single-celled coccidian parasitic pathogen, causes intestinal infection resulting in diarrhea. In medical terminology, this diarrheal infection is referred as cyclospora infection (cyclosporiasis).This infection is usually transmitted through feces and ingestion of food and water contaminated with sporulated oocysts.
