In diffused mode of sensing, which is called as proximity mode, transmitter and the receiver are within the same housing. Because much of the transmitted energy is being lost because of the target angle and the ability to reflect the light, diffused mode reflects into short sensing ranges which is attainable with retro-reflective and thru-beam mode. Specular reflection which is also known as the regular reflection is a kind of mirror reflection of different waves, like light, from the surface. In this method, each incident of ray is being reflected, with reflected ray which is having the same angle to the surface.
