New York Personal Chefs Help Cook Up Pledges for WLIW Channel 21
New York, NY, September 8, 2005 -- In an ongoing effort to participate in culinary projects, the NY Metro Chapter of the United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA) recently volunteered to answer pledge calls for WLIW, Channel 21. This local public station airs a variety of cultural and food-related programs throughout the year. During this pledge drive, the NY Metro Personal Chefs supported a program about the culture of Sicily which also included a special live cooking episode of Italian baked delights prepared by Chef Biagio Settepani, owner and master baker of Pasticceria Bruno in NYC and Staten Island.The NY Metro Chapter of the USPCA is a professional association for Personal Chefs from New York City, Long Island, and Westchester. Members serve the entire New York Metro area with Family Meals, Dinner Parties, Cooking Lessons and Special Events. The group frequently gets involved with culinary themed projects around the NY Metro area. Earlier in the Summer, the NY Metro Personal Chefs raised money and gathered spices and other kitchen items to support a Personal Chef cooking for the troops in Afghanistan.
The Personal Chef industry is growing, but a large number of consumers remain unaware of this affordable alternative to restaurant and take out food. “Although the personal chef industry has grown over the last 10 years, we still face a challenge in educating consumers about personal chef services. Eating healthier and saving time is a big concern, especially for busy professionals in New York. As a group, we are actively pursuing avenues to get the word out to consumers about how affordable and nutritious a Personal Chef Service can be for them. Our participation in the WLIW pledge drive was a perfect way to do this, since Public Television supports the culinary arts so well.” states Mark Tafoya, President of the NY Metro Chapter of the USPCA.
