In Your Pocket is launching new guides in every city of the Soccer-Championship in Germany

Berlin, Germany, 26 April 2006 – In Your Pocket is publishing city guides to all the World Cup venues in Germany as part of a massive expansion that will yield 12 new guides to off-beat destinations in the UK, Germany, Poland and the Balkans.

“The lack of locally-produced, English language publications in the run-up to the World Cup in Germany is catastrophic," said Stephan Kramer, head of In Your Pocket Germany. "Without an In Your Pocket guide, with its insider knowledge and no-nonsense approach, foreign football fans would frankly be lost in places like Kaiserslautern or Gelsenkirchen."

In Your Pocket has been publishing bi-monthly city guides to Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich for three years. By June 1 In Your Pocket guides will also be available in print and on-line for the following football venues:

Cologne In Your Pocket – Putting Germany's biggest cathedral in your pocket
Hamburg In Your Pocket – Telling fans how to survive on the cheap in Germany's richest city
Hanover In Your Pocket – Proving that there is more to this northern city than trade fairs and conferences
Leipzig In Your Pocket – Birthplace of Bach and the scene of the beginning of the end for the former GDR
Nuremberg In Your Pocket – The prettiest medieval city in Bavaria
Stuttgart In Your Pocket – The home of Mercedes and Porsche
Kaiserslautern In Your Pocket – A small city in the Palatine Forest packed with sights
Dortmund & Gelsenkirchen In Your Pocket – Twin cities in Germany’s industrial heartland

The In Your Pocket guides to the World Cup venues are researched and written by resident native English writers. "The guides will contain key information on the cities themselves, and the World Cup, but also essential information for football fans, such as how to get to and from stadiums, where to get tickets, and where to watch the games on big screens," says Jeroen van Marle, the veteran In Your Pocket editor in charge of Germany.

The guides will be available in local hotels and newsstands from June 1. Spring 2006 will also see the launch of In Your Pocket guides to the Isle of Man, Lodz (Poland), Skopje (Macedonia) and Pristina (Kosovo)

Founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, in late 1991 In Your Pocket city guides are now published in 27 cities across Europe. Hailed as 'an Eastern European publishing phenomenon' by the International Herald Tribune the In Your Pocket series covers many of Europe's lesser known cities from Belfast to Bucharest and St. Petersburg to Sofia. Many destinations now considered part of the mainstream, such as Warsaw, Budapest and Prague, were covered by the series long before they became fashionable.

"We are known for publishing guides to off-beat places with unpronounceable names. Gelsenkirchen and Kaiserslautern perfectly fit this description," muses Craig Turp, group Editor-in-chief. "I wouldn't be surprised to see groups of football fans returning to these cities after the World Cup as stag parties. The local authorities can blame us!"

The handy guides – PDF versions of which can also be downloaded free of charge online at www.inyourpocket.com - have attracted a massive cult following in the travel world for their spot on reviews and their tongue-in-cheek humour.
