Axess by Axiros accelerates WLAN up to 300km/h

Munich, April 25th 2006*** High speed internet, high tech trains and Axiros’ Axess Server have finally teamed up. Combining the technologies of satellite connection and WiFi networks, the British system integrator 21Net provides the French premium train TGV with internet access. Now, railway passengers can comfortably surf the World Wide Web at a travelling speed of 300 km/h.

Thereby, the connection is established by a satellite system on the roof of the power car. Passenger cabins are then bidirectionally linked via WiFi, enabling travellers to easily log on to the internet. Payments can be effected either by credit card or offline purchased voucher. Each passenger is logged on and off individually for the duration of the acquired surfing time. During the inevitable disruptions caused by tunnels the passengers’ devices are kept online until the connection to the satellite is re-established. However, travellers surfing the contents of the Onboard Proxy Server will not even notice an interruption. Movies, music and daily news can therefore be enjoyed untroubled.

This comfort is rendered possible by Axiros’ server technology. The Axess Server of Axiros offers both, the security and the flexibility vital in operating major projects.
