GHI – comment, consequences for clean horse sports

Press release from: German Horse Industry Consulting GmbH

The past medication and doping incidents in equitation not only caused a stir since Hong Kong. Pleasing, albeit a bit irritating is the fact that the pronouncement for a wide and intensive public discussion came from an active sportsman himself, Ludger Beerbaum. Whether deliberately or not in every respect this was caused by the actives themselves.

The FN has tightened sanctions for medications not reported or even doping drastically (case Christian Ahlmann/Marl). Possibly this led to a need of action among active horsemen. The reaction of the FN to release the German equestrian cadre in order to allow a consequent recommencement after examination of the equestrians is very welcome. The appointment of a completely independent commission hopefully leads to decisions which correspond with common sense, too. To have a certain distance about a subject is well-known to promote objectivity.

The German Equestrian Federation made an important step towards regaining credibility in equitation and the achieved results. We – the German Horse Industry and its members – wish that this example catches on to federations of other countries – in terms of fair sports for all concerned parties.

The German Horse Industry is a non-profit association, founded by professionals from the industry. Success through quality is the motto of all the companies that are united under the roof of the German Horse Industry. Tradition and a spirit of innovation are the power behind continuously improving products in all fields of equestrianism. Companies that equip and attend Olympic, World and World Cup Championships have pooled their knowledge.
The German Horse Industry chooses its partners with care. The network of permanent members includes only companies that have outstanding quality standards and whose products are exceptionally good.
