Fanless Intel Atom Embedded Computer Offers Wide Power Input Range, Extended Operating Temperature and PCI / PCI-E / Mini-PCI-E Expansion

(Taipei, Taiwan - May 12, 2009) Lanner Electronics, Inc., a leading designer and ODM manufacturer of advanced embedded computing platforms for commercial and industrial applications, today announced the release of the Lanner LUGE LEC-2010 – a small form factor, fanless embedded system based on the Intel® Atom™ processor designed for a broad range of industrial and mobile computing applications.

The LEC-2010 expands on Lanner’s growing line of Atom-based small form factor embedded systems by providing a PCI or PCI Express expansion slot, along with extensive I/O features such as six USB 2.0 ports, six serial ports and 8 digital I/O lanes. It also provides SATA and CompactFlash storage support, and VGA and DVI-D video output for applications such as digital signage and mobile video communications. Dual gigabit LAN ports ensure solid connectivity and the system accepts wide range power input from 9V to 36V DC in a slim 65 mm height form factor.

The Intel Atom N270 processor and Intel 945GSE chipset provide respectable computing power for an extensive range of commercial and industrial projects while reducing power consumption and heat generation, and allowing for construction of completely fanless embedded computer systems.

"The LEC-2010 offers greater flexibility by providing industrial temperature range and PCI or PCI Express expansion options, while still offering the benefits of small form factor and low power requirements," said Eric Chiu, Product Planner, Lanner Embedded Computing. "By adding an expansion slot to the Atom platform, Lanner customers are able to add a range of functionality to the system, such as mobile communications using a GPRS or wireless card, or in-vehicle video surveillance by adding a video capture card. There really are an unlimited number of possibilities for embedded applications and this system includes all of the necessary hardware features required to achieve these possibilities," he said.

The Lanner LUGE LEC-2010 runs Windows or Linux, and targets vertical industries such as transportation, medical and military applications. Based on the Intel Atom N270 processor, the LEC-2010 takes advantage of the low power processor, advanced power management technologies and wide temperature range to achieve 100% fanless system design.
