Littleton, CO

It is all too common these days to hear stories of neglect, abuse, and abandonment of one of the noblest animals on the planet, the horse. Luckily, it is not often we hear about the need for rescues operating of the magnitude that began in the Fall of 2016 in South Dakota. It was then that 907 iconic Mustangs were seized by officials after they were found to be neglected and starving. Fleet of Angels was asked to assist and the journey began to find these precious souls life-long, safe, and nurturing homes. To date, the majority of the horses - now called 'The Hallelujah Horses' - have found their safe place in the world; however, 50 horses still await their forever families.
On October 29, 2017, at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch in Littleton, Colorado, a group of three amazing women, who are deeply involved in the rescue and welfare of America’s wild and discarded horses, will team up to bring the resources of their respected organizations to support and find homes for these iconic horses. Two beautiful bay mares from The Hallelujah Horse herd, Uriel, and Selaphiel, will be gentled during a live, day-long broadcast with international horsewoman and mustang expert, Anna Twinney.
Anna Twinney and four of her ROTH trainers will demonstrate and teach prospective adopters, sponsors, and supporters about the process of gentling a formerly wild mustang. During the live, online broadcast, both virtual and in-person attendees will observe the Reach Out to Horses techniques and have an opportunity to ask questions of the trainers throughout the day via their streaming tools. The skills demonstrated during this unique event will serve not only prospective adopters but they will also benefit any current or future horse owner hoping to learn the keys to a true partnership with their horse.
The proceeds from this event will help the remaining Mustangs that were once part of The International Society of Protection of Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB) in South Dakota. In 2016, local officials were called to investigate a report of abuse. They found horses that were deceased in the fields, and others were suffering from malnutrition and/or starvation, and many had severe injuries and illness.
Elaine Nash and Fleet of Angels were asked by South Dakota authorities to step in and assist with finding adoptive homes for some of the horses. Their team selflessly took charge of ALL the horses after the courts removed them from ISPMB ownership, in what has become the largest known rescue of horses in history. Through their heroic, endless work, Fleet of Angels has successfully fed, rehabilitated, and placed all but 50 of these horses (in groups of two or more) in good homes all across America.
As winter approaches, the remaining Hallelujah Horses are in serious need of sponsors to meet their basic care requirements, as adopters are located. For those wishing to contribute to their care, becoming an Angel Sponsor is easy and a perfect way to help these horses in need. As an Angel Sponsor, your committed contribution of $150 a month (for a total of three months) will facilitate the amazing effort of placing the horses from the largest equine rescue to date. With 100 Sponsors, we as a community can bring this mission to a successful end. What a great way to honor this American icon and share life as the holiday season approaches. If you wish to investigate how to become an Angel Sponsor, please look at the donation option here: www.thehallelujahhorses.com
For those wishing to contribute by attending the event at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch, you can reserve your spot with a $20 contribution. Tickets are available at www.ReachOuttoHorses.com, or in person at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch on event day.
