Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP (FCOP), Ventura County’s largest law firm, is pleased to announce that Joshua S. Hopstone has been elevated to partner, beginning Jan. 1, 2018. In his seven years at FCOP, Hopstone has built a strong practice focused primarily on complex business and real estate related matters. He is also an accomplished appellate advocate.
“Since joining FCOP, Josh has demonstrated himself to be a versatile attorney with extensive experience counseling businesses and individuals in a broad range of legal areas,” said Michael Velthoen, FCOP managing partner. “In addition to his talent as an attorney, Josh has been heavily involved with the greater community. We welcome him to the firm’s partnership.”
Hopstone’s law practice is focused on issues affecting real property. Most of his clients are landowners, developers, brokers and contractors. He handles transactions and disputes arising from the conveyance of commercial, residential and agricultural real estate; natural resources interests (including oil and gas and water rights); quiet title and partition actions; construction defects; and land use, zoning and development entitlement. He is also a respected appellate advocate, having successfully argued cases before various state and federal appellate courts, including the California Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Hopstone currently serves on the board of directors of the Ventura County Bar Association and is president of the Ventura County Barristers. He is also a member of the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association and the Chamber of Commerce, and regularly volunteers his time pro bono at Ventura County Legal Aid. Hopstone earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2010, and is also a graduate of the University of California San Diego, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and law and society.

For over 35 years, FCOP has been providing quality solutions and personal attention to clients throughout California. Conveniently located in Westlake Village and Ventura, our two full-service offices offer expert counsel across 15 specialized practice groups. With commitment and pride, we also serve the community through pro bono services and by volunteering and sponsoring a variety of civic, professional and charitable organizations.
