Rob Holland Becomes Only the Second Pilot in History to Win Seven

OSHKOSH, WI. Winning his unprecedented seventh consecutive US National Aerobatic Championship title, Rob Holland has equaled the legendary Leo Loudenslager for the most national titles in US history, an achievement previously thought by many to be unreachable. Adding further luster to his championship run, Rob also continued his complete dominance in the freestyle category, winning his record-setting eighth US National Freestyle championship only weeks after achieving his unprecedented fourth consecutive World Freestyle gold medal gold at the World Aerobatic Championships in Malalene, South Africa.

Held for the first time at the Whitman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, home to the world famous EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the 2017 US National Aerobatic Championships drew hundreds of top pilots from all across the United States for its week-long competition. Given Oshkosh was also the host for the 1980 World Aerobatic Championships where Leo Loudenslager also won his World Aerobatic Championship title, it set the perfect stage for Rob to tie the record held by one of his heroes in aviation. To further mark the historic nature of this achievement, Loudenslager’s daughters, Carolyn and Kelly, represented their late father at the awards ceremony. “It was truly an honor to have Carolyn and Kelly Loudenslager personally present me with the trophy for my seventh national title. To have them here representing their dad is very special to me and also very humbling,” said Rob. “To be recognized alongside one of my heroes is quite surreal! I am so thankful to everyone who supported me over the years and helped make this achievement possible.”

Rob Holland’s seven consecutive US National Aerobatic Titles, eight National Freestyle titles, and four consecutive World Freestyle titles are all unprecedented achievements in competition aerobatic history. Few expected anyone to equal Loundenslager’s seven national titles, let alone do so consecutively. In freestyle competition, Rob is simply without peer, scoring gold medals nationally and internationally in every contest he’s entered. It’s this matchless combination of both precision and excitement that has not only earned him 24 medals in international aerobatic competition, eleven of which are gold, but also made Rob one of the most popular and sought-after performers on the airshow circuit.
