HIGH INFIDELITY - Reinvent Opera
opera-ballet electro-popApril 23, 2009 | Club Maria am Ostbahnhof
Doors open 8:30pm, Begin: 9pm
Press Conference on Location: 2009, April 23, 7pm
„On the 21st century, the individual has to learn to navigate in an ocean of infidelities through some archipelagos of humanity.“
HIGH INFIDELITY is a totally new concept of opera - electro, dynamic and high tech - which has been nominated for Operare 2008, the international competition of contemporary opera in Berlin.
While accompanied by the clone, an absurd narrator figure, the public will be sucked in a multimedia opera spectacle. 2500 mobile screens, 100 video projectors and 50 interactive cameras overflow the audience viewers in its own medial codes, in search of the human kernel. Innumerable geometric bodies form a permanently moving stage, in which 15 dancers create over interactive screens and cameras an overwhelming media panorama that throws back its language to the public.
The internationally renowned crew of HIGH INFIDELITY, with French multimedia artist Yann Ulrich as author, artistic & stage director, explores ways to invent the opera ballet of the 21st century. 10 electro composers from Europe, USA and Japan - under that Mouse on Mars - create a partnership score. 5 opera singers investigate electro vocal sounds. 15 dancers, using Hip Hop and contemporary dance, produce a very precise, fast and physical choreography.
With the premiere of HIGH INFIDELITY in autumn 2011, the idea is presented as a dramaturgical total work of art. According to the production model of "Cirque du Soleil", an international tour with a transportable opera box (designed with the UdK - University of Arts, Berlin) should enable fair prices and the development of new opera attendees. Site specific cooperations with traditional opera houses are also planned.
HIGH INFIDELITY presents itself for the first time as a two and a half hour urban happening on the 23rd of April 2009 at club Maria. Many worlds collide at this evening: Storm (Germany), leading Hip Hop choreographer in Europe, including his crew, swap moves with Norman Douglas (Scotland), contemporary choreographer with 3 dancers, with French Touch volume Mellow (France), Tim Exile (UK, WARP), Drum & Bass Breakcore, Michael Rauter (Germany), cellist and artistic director of Kaleidoskop (ensemble in residence in Radialsystem V, Berlin) and Eloudie A. (Germany), soprano, who was performing in March 2009 in Christoph Schlingensief’s ready made opera at Burgtheater in Vienna.
