About the Author:

Eleni was born in Malawi and educated in Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) and the United Kingdom. She now lives in Kent with her husband John and son Nick and spends as much time as possible in Greece on the island where her father was born and where she has three Rescue dogs. Four of her other children also live in the South East where she can keep an interfering eye on them but one has escaped to the Wirral. Part of her heart still lingers in Malawi where she forgot it when she had to leave.

“Elsa was finding her life a struggle and she reflected ironically how just a few short weeks ago she had been feeling so content, so fulfilled in the new life that she had chosen for herself.
But then her father’s letter had arrived and turned all of their worlds upside-down. Probably the most difficult thing was keeping up appearances in front of A Mayi who, thankfully, was going from strength to strength, busy with animals and gardens and happy to have her sisters close by, though she would never admit this.
Elsa’s main worry was Paulina’s ability to keep quiet about the letter. Paulina thrived on misery, thought Elsa irritably, and was probably bursting to unload onto their mother the unhappy news that had so disrupted their lives.
