Abstract:
In 2015, the value of copper and copper alloy product production in the U.S. amounted to $18.7B, shrinking by -17.7% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. copper and copper alloy product output pursued a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -2.4%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +45% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of copper and copper alloy product shipments in the United States peaked at $22.7B in 2014, falling back in the following year.

Copper and copper-base alloy rod, bar, and shapes accounted for the highest share (28% in 2015) of U.S. copper and copper alloy product manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for copper wire and cable, including apparatus wire, cord, and flexible cord sets, made in copper wire drawing plants (20%). The other related products with less notable individual shares together comprised approx. 52% of the total output.
