Room for design experts to develop their creative ideas

The glacier of Kitzsteinhorn, the local mountain of Schmittenhöhe, Lake Zell: holidaymakers from all over the world appreciate the region of Zell am See-Kaprun as a place of carefree recreation. For inventive minds, however, it is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that two renowned design companies call Zell am See their home. For as many as 30 years the region surrounding Lake Zell has been the cradle of concepts and layouts which make commonplace things absolutely extraordinary.

On the one hand there is the name of Porsche which is considered a synonym for outstanding designs. In 1974 Ferdinand Alexander, Ferry Porsche's son, installed his design studios in Zell am See - the place where his grandfather Ferdinand Porsche had been buried. On the other hand, there is Design Storz GmbH, another think tank for world-class product designs, which set up its offices here eight years later, in the autumn of 1982. Since then, both teams have been working just a stone's throw from each other in Schüttdorf, a part of Zell. And it is the picturesque Alpine idyll of the holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun that continues to boost their creativity.

Achim Storz, managing director of Design Storz GmbH, is convinced: he could not have chosen a better place as the location for his company. You can profit from the peace and quiet and the relatively slow pace of life in the mountain to think clearly.' By now, both companies have made a name for themselves all around the globe thanks to their innovation potential and their location.

Porsche has attracted a lot of attention in the last decades with its product lines and has introduced its brand as a label on mobile phones, sun glasses, and watches, among others. Design Storz for its part is a partner of well-known automobile and sports equipment manufacturers. The team of 30 creative minds around Achim Storz has already designed products for Adidas, Nike, MBT, Asics, Salomon, Völkl, and Oakley. In the field of 'Transportation Design', the company can proudly call global players like Audi, BMW, VW, PSA Peugeot, Ford, Honda, Seat, Mitsubishi, and Volvo their regular customers.

Both companies export their creative ideas to countries all over the globe. Besides Europe, North America and Asia are two core markets. That way, there is always a piece of Zell am See-Kaprun to be found even in the remotest corners of the world.

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 14,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria.
