Hochkultur: extraordinary musical highlights in series

Conditions could not have been any better. Already before the 'half-time break' it was obvious that this year's concert series 'Hochkultur mit Tiefgang' in the popular holiday region Zell am See-Kaprun is a resounding success again. Just like in the previous year, the Ferry Porsche Congress Center and Zell's local mountain of Schmittenhöhe are the venues for this one-of-a-kind event. During the first three days, guests were able to enjoy music acts catering to all musical preferences. Only the natural play of colours of the surrounding landscape was able to hold the candle to this spectacle on the probably highest situated open-air stage in Austria.

On the opening evening at the Ferry Porsche Congress Center, celebrities from the region as well as music lovers from all over Europe came together to enjoy the performance of the Vienna Harmonists. At its performance, the sextet from Vienna narrated the musical career of the legendary Comedian Harmonists from Berlin. True to their idol's style, the singers wore black tailcoats and white bow ties. More than 300 visitors were absolutely mesmerized by the comedic talent of the sextet and its entertaining performance on the stage. The audience's opinion after the show was unanimous: 'Absolutely breathtaking', said one guest while another agreed: 'This performance was definitely worthy to be the opening event of this great concert series.'

On the following two days, the events on the programme took visitors to airy heights - to the summit of Schmittenhöhe to be precise. During its concert on 30th July, the band 'Jazz vom Fass' from Lower Austria took its audience on a musical journey to the Southern States of America. Despite a chilly breeze, the lively Dixieland sound played by the jazz combo as well as radiant sunshine guaranteed for high spirits.

A blaze of colours and an emotional attachment to the region - those are attributes describing the concert of Zell's town band on 1st August. In absolutely perfect weather, traditional costumes and the sophisticated intonation of regional tunes promised unforgettable moments. The special ambience of untouched nature in combination with music enthralled young and old alike. It paid out to come early - already before the first notes were played all seat had been taken.

To the delight of locals and guests who had specifically travelled to the region for this event, the 'Hochkultur mit Tiefgang' concert series has not come to its end yet. After a short break, it continues with the performance of 'Concilium Musicum Wien' on Thursday, 5th August. And on the following Friday the quintet 'Die Salonfähigen Saitenspringer' is playing a vast potpourri including traditional melodies as well as popular music. The concert series is culminating in Zell's Lake Festival on Saturday. As usual, the brilliant fireworks are the final highlight of a unique musical event.
