Imperato Comments on British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw’s Views on Iran

London – March 21, 2006 - Today 2008 Presidential Candidate Daniel Imperato, of the independent ticket Imperato Brooks 2008, spoke out about British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and his recent comments regarding the Iranian situation.

The relationship between the United States and Great Britain was important regarding addressing this situation, according to Imperato.

“I call out to the Bush Administration to take the time to have great respect for his friends in London England, Tony Blair and Jack Straw. Throughout our nation’s history, it has been said in many occasions that a great relationship has been driven by mutual respect for between the two countries and is continued by President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair,” stated Imperato.

Imperato wanted to echo and support the sentiments expressed by Straw at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

“While Mr. Blair and London takes Secretary Straw seriously who today calls for a much more diplomatic means of communications between the United States and Iran, I would like the world to know that I support Jack Straw and I support his position.”

“At a speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Mr. Straw was steering clear of pushing for sanctions against Iran. I believe that the USA and its people have a mutual respect for the people around the world, particularly in developing countries.
The Iranian people deserve more, and they deserve the opportunity to prosper in their economy. I believe that the USA must take initiatives in conjunction with Jack Straw’s recommendations.”

One of Imperato’s initiatives would be to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Iran’s leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

A meeting between the two leaders, in Imperato’s view, would go a long way to clarify some of the misunderstandings between the two countries.

“The situation between Iran and the USA and the rest of the world has come to a very unfortunate position for the USA and for our President George W. Bush, who is standing on his word and pushing for a potential nuclear war. I believe that the Iranian leadership deserves an audience with our President Bush and they deserve the opportunity to discuss with each other the mutual desires of each country.”

“While I see commentaries on the news pertaining to the Iran leadership and the activities of Iran’s past, I stand up to state that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. We all have previous things in our life that may have changed our views and opinions and our maturity. We all have done things in our past that we would probably not have done if we were older and more mature at the time.”

In an Imperato presidency, Imperato pledged to work with the people of the world towards “calming the storms and not infuriating them.”

Imperato warned our current administration to make Iran an ally for the future and not to go around the world alienating countries.

“Skipping out of a face-to-face will only lead to a much more difficult situation. With Iran being the Number 2 provider of oil to the world, and Iran being a good ally of the US in the past, certainly has the ability to be a great ally in the future. Alienating people and governments around the world, throwing stones at them and forcing them to make decisions that may not be in the interest of their own people are not in the interest of any leader.”

Iran has expressed a desire towards producing energy for civilian and commercial purposes. Imperato felt that the Iranians should be allowed to profit as long as all nuclear facilities are watched, and we are all moving forward with the idea of creating peace and freedom.

“The fact is that if Iran has the ability to produce nuclear energy systems pertaining to the increase in electricity and have the ability to profit from it then they should do so. I do agree with the world community and Mohammed El-Baradei of the United Nations IAEA that certain watches must be put on all the nuclear programs, including our own. We must be aware that anyone at anytime anywhere in the world with certain information could create and deploy a nuclear instrument. We must work together as one world. We must desire peace and freedom for our people, and the same for the global society.”

With mutual respect for the history, culture, and religions of each society, Imperato felt that we could operate better in the global arena and understand why leaders make the decisions that they do.

“We must also have mutual respect and understanding for other society’s religion and business acumen pertaining to the way leadership in each country desires to make decisions for their country and for their people. While these decisions may not be perfect at all times, nor are any other leaders decisions are perfect at all times.”

Imperato concluded his statement with the following, “I call on the United States of America to stand strong, and to support my issue pertaining to peace and not war. I call on the people of the United States of America to realize that alienating Iran could ultimately put our oil prices at $100 per barrel and put pressure on the USA, which is losing ground in the oil-rich countries around the world because of the undiplomatic manner in which our administration has moved forward pertaining to the developing world and its countries that are oil rich. We must stop this lack of diplomacy, get back to basics and have mutual respect for all. I call on our administration and our president George W. Bush to be a man and stand up face to face with Ahmadinejad in order to discuss a peaceful resolve to this situation.”
