VoiceOverXtra Expands Section For Newcomers to Voice-Over Career Field

VoiceOverXtra, the voice-over industry’s online news, education and resource center, has expanded its section for newcomers to the voice-over career field, with articles and podcasts stressing the importance of training and talent.

"The idea of working from home in a glamorous profession is tempting many people to consider a full- or part-time career in voice-overs," says John Florian, founder of VoiceOverXtra.

He explains that voice-overs is the profession that supplies voices for an expanding range of media, including radio and TV commercials, documentary narrations, audiobooks, video games, telephone answering systems, in-store announcements, cartoons, “talking” web sites and much more.

"Indeed, a minimal investment in recording and editing equipment will create a basic home studio, from which completed recordings may be sent to clients via email or other means," Florian adds.

But as experts explain in the newly-expanded Newcomers section on the VoiceOverXtra web site, success in this competitive field also takes talent, training and persistence.

“Lots of folks start in this business because they’ve been told they have a great voice, or because have fun doing character voices,” Florian says. “That's a great start. But beginners must learn how to speak naturally into a microphone, and also develop skills in voice acting, marketing and how to run a business. Choosing the right equipment for a home studio – and how to assemble and use it – is another challenge."

VoiceOverXtra’s expanded Newcomers section features how-to articles and podcasts from top talents and coaches in the industry, which explain how to get started and plan for a successful voice-over career.
