Washington State Department of Ecology Selects Marshall for Well Construction and Licensing System Project
The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) recently selected Marshall and Associates, Inc. (Marshall) to combine two existing systems into a single integrated Well Construction & Licensing System (WCLS). The new WCLS will include a map search interface that uses ArcGIS Server and the JavaScript API for customizations.Ecology currently uses two systems to track well construction and licensing data. Users include the United States Geological Survey, Department of Natural Resources, the State Department of Health, local health districts, realtors, developers, well drillers, drilling companies, college students and property owners access data from both systems through the internet. Currently, Ecology staff enter information into the two systems manually from paper documents. Maintaining two systems with different information for the same asset introduces the potential for data mismatches and synchronization issues.
The new, integrated system will enable applicants to submit well construction applications and reports via the Internet, reducing data entry requirements for Ecology staff and making it faster and more convenient for customers.
