SIEGENIA-AUBI, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of hardware for windows based in Siegen (Germany), together with schnurstracks agency for design and interaction, Cologne, is sponsoring this unusual photography competition entitled “windows of the world” in wide panorama format (180° – 360°). The 50 best photographs will be published in an exclusive book by SIEGENIA-AUBI. For the six best photographs, prize money will be awarded.

SIEGENIA-AUBI’s motivation for sponsoring this photography competition and the resulting exclusive panorama photography book is to give a stylish emphasis to its marketing campaign entitled, “Ahead of its time – for the windows of the world”, as well as putting an artistic focus on the global breadth of “windows” as a theme. The 50 most accomplished photographs will be published in the book by SIEGENIA-AUBI to be presented as a gift to selected customers as part of the company’s marketing activities.

The organizers encourage all photographers around the world to present their own, personal perspectives of this global theme in wide angle photography work. The aesthetic diversity of a “mundane” subject will become particularly evident in this collection of works submitted by photographers from different nations.

Welcome scenes and subjects include anything related to “windows” in the broadest sense. Views from the inside out, in front of a panoramic window front or, of course, capturing the front of a building with unusual windows that are typical for a particular country or region are just some ideas to get entrants started. Open windows, as well, are welcome subjects. Other photographs with good chances of winning a prize are those that tell a small story and/or bring up a smile on the viewer’s face. Showing windows and people in a particular context would be another thrilling subject.

Generally speaking, it is important for the organizers to have all continents around the globe represented with panoramic shots of windows. That is why subjects and scenes from countries which tend to have few photographers are particularly welcome.

Closing date for all submissions will be Dec 31st, 2005. Further info is available at http://windowsoftheworld.schnurstracks.de
