Governor Jeb Bush invites Diagenics International Corporation to Florida

During his visit to Europe last week which lead him to meet decision makers in Switzerland and Germany, Governor Bush had a clear strategy: to bring innovative high tech business home to Florida. In particular, he was looking for companies in IT, life sciences including pharma and biotech and similar innovative ventures.

In Duesseldorf, Germany, Mr. Jeb Bush met CEO and President of Diagenics International Corporation, Mr. Ernest Kapetanovic. The company is an American-German Corporation based in Massachussets near Boston and has it´s European Headquarter and roots in Duesseldorf. “We are currently hitting the markets for heart infarction diagnostics worldwide”, says Mr. Kapetanovic. During a business lunch hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Duesseldorf, Germany, Mr. Bush discussed to invite Diagenics International to move their future operations and R&D as well as production sites to Florida.

The current products can detect a cardiac infarction in only 15 minutes, thus the physician can immediately assess if the symptoms as chest pain are indeed resulting from an infarction.
Interestingly, one of the projects of Diagenics International Corporation (www.diagenics.com) already has some relation to Florida. The CLU-502 (clusianone) project, which is one of the hot product candidates under development by the company, is a potential new substance to cure several types of cancer including prostate and is currently in late preclinical stage.

The project is flanked by international patent applications and is developed in a cooperation with Prof. Seeber and his group, director of German tumor Center of Essen University. The project is related to a natural molecule made by the flower clusia spec. which grows only in certain geographical areas including Florida.

“Expanding our business to Florida is an interesting new opportunity for us”, says Mr. Kapetanovic, “ We are currently on a systematic growth path as our products DIACORDON ELISA and DIACORDON POCT which just have been presented on MEDICA here in Duesseldorf are now hitting their markets.”
Mr. Kapetanovic thanked Mr. Bush for the invitation. “It was a pleasure to meet you”, stated Mr. Bush in his correspondence to the company early next day.
