MAAT Uses MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08 as Stage to Develop Thai Media Industry
Media Agency Association of Thailand takes a big step forward in being a customer information center. Besides being in a hurry to upgrade standards of research and information in order to benefit the media society, it also invites neutral experts from abroad to investigate those standards. It uses MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08 to stage a media-oriented seminar that will help develop Thailand’s media industry. It also believes that, with some factors including political and economic crisis affecting media use, media business will boost by 1-2% with a total of over 90,000-100,000 million baht in circulation.Ms. Paichit Thienthong, President of Media Agency Association of Thailand (MAAT), disclosed that the association had started a new project to make an investigation on standards of research and information for purpose of making such information more incredible as it played a significant role in doing media business. This year, the association invited international experts who had specific skills, knowledge and neutrality to determine whether all the methods used and results found were accurate or not.
Such research investigation is part of the association’s major mission, besides being an information center to provide customers a wealth of information, by integrating various information among media-agency and advertising-business entrepreneurs, including adverting media and other related business, both local and international. In addition, the association has a policy to upgrade the media industry by focusing on personnel development, research promotion and media-effectiveness investigation, making these factors widely accepted among all related parties.
Ms. Paichit added about the association’s plan that the association had prepared to stage a media-oriented seminar on September, 26 2008 during MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08 at Muang Thong Thani. It would work as a venue to exchange ideas and attitudes among key media persons, with an aim to prepare development and creation of media and advertising works. It also would help everyone forecast the future of media trends and directions. Besides getting significant ideas in developing the media industry, this seminar would build tighter relationship between all the people in the advertising society and all the media involved, creating greater scope for cooperation in running business.
“MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08 will be a major stage to provide media- and adverting-business entrepreneurs a great opportunity to meet each other. It also works as a venue for B2B media-business trade negotiation. Actually, such negotiation doesn’t matter to media agencies as there are a small number of media agencies in Thailand. In the past, media owners preferred to have a one-on-one meeting with their customers. However, some great benefits that we will receive include new state-of-the-art technology that will move us forward and spur out-of-the-box thinking. Moreover, this year is the first year that we will invite those in the advertising society to use this stage to exchange their opinions. It is also expected to offer a great opportunity for them to communicate and build a tighter relationship with a wider and deeper understanding among each other, with the hope of promoting collaborations in developing the industry”, said Ms. Paichit.
Previous political and economic crisis may affect media use. However, overall media use until the end of 2008 is expected to increase constantly by 1-2% or approximately 90,000-100,000 million baht in total. Media use at present and in the future should cover all the segments in both wide and deep directions. Besides, some interesting methods for better development include keeping up with fast-changing technology, preparing for an all-out offensive, creating high-quality contents, building differences and collaborating in cross-media communications including media channels and contents that can be used together to benefit both marketers and consumers.
MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08, held in conjunction with SIGN ASIA EXPO’08, will be staged between September 25 and 28, 2008, 08.00-20.00 hrs. at Hall 2-3, Impact, Muang Thong Thani. For more information, please visit www.mediaasiaexpo.com.
