Three DC Millennials Are Leading The Conversation on Diversity and Inclusion
Washington, D.C. - On Thursday, June 8, the DICE Leadership Group will establish a safe space for Washingtonians to contribute to brave dialogue on diversity, inclusion, and other taboo topics with hopes of building a world community where all people feel welcomed and accepted. The Diversity. Inclusion. Collaborative Engagement (DICE) Leadership Group is creating a community of thought leaders, change agents, and activists who are passionate about creating a world that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion. Through face-to-face engagements, DICE brings people together to build relationships, share ideas, solve challenges in innovative ways, and collaborate to establish a community of trust.
Founded by women of various heritage, the DICE Leadership Group is no stranger to the oftentimes uncomfortable conversations surrounding race, gender, and sexual orientation. Their goal is to provide a forum for people to hear and be heard, and to remove barriers that impede mutual understanding. “The single biggest problem in communication on diversity and inclusion is the illusion that it is taking place,” says DICE Co-Founder and CEO Amber Watson. “People often feel uncomfortable talking about being different and why that matters, and the only way to get comfortable is to step outside our comfort zone.”
During the 2.5 hour forum, participants are challenged to increase vulnerability, remove judgment, and share some of their most intimate viewpoints. In the form of small-group question and discussion sessions, these forums use the power of stories to explain ingrained ideals and foster understanding. Conversations move from defining the problem to brainstorming solutions over the course of the engagement, with the discussion resulting in actionable steps to create lasting change and a support group for accountability.
All are welcomed to attend. The first conversation is scheduled for June 8, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:30 pm at Sudhouse DC, a safe bar on U-street. Cost is $25.00 Find tickets at: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/connect-the-dice-networking-cafe-tickets-34149808998
Subsequent events will occur quarterly.

Established in 2016, DICE provides facilitation services and practical tools to improve morale, engagement, and productivity.
