Parkour photography workshops in London and Copenhagen
For the first time, Landmann Studios will be teaching two one-day parkour photography workshops in May, in London and Copenhagen. These workshops offer students the opportunity to shoot professional parkour athletes as they explore and interact with some of Europe’s most compelling architecture.LandmannStudios.com is a partnership between professional photographers/artists Andy Day and Diego Ferrari who between them have more than 30 years of photographic experience. Each day-long course from Landmann Studios gives students the opportunity to learn from world-renowned photographers and work with professional parkour athletes. Students will create stunning images, learn new techniques, and explore the city in a completely unique way.
Ferrari and Day have both taught for the Royal Institute of British Architects, Central St Martins, University of the Arts London, and several other arts organisations and academic institutions. Their courses stand out as they teach not only technique, but ways of engaging critically with photography and urban space.
“I’ve been photographing parkour for 14 years,” says Andy Day, “and I love teaching, especially helping photographers - from novices to professionals - discover how to capture this beautiful, physical interaction with the built environment.”
Diego Ferrari adds, “The city can be a playground and photography is the perfect way to convey this dramatic relationship between the body and architecture.”
Former student Julie Angel describes her experience of studying with Andy Day: “Andy’s workshop changed everything about how I approached photography. With the confidence that I gained, I started shooting more, received a few commissions, and actually had work exhibited internationally.
“With Andy’s accessible and intelligent approach to the subject matter, I really enjoyed what I was learning. Plus, I managed to create images that I used to think only other people somehow knew how to get.”
With Day and Ferrari’s individual approach to each student, the workshops are also suitable for new photographers, offering a unique opportunity to master photographic techniques whilst working on creating visually spectacular images.
For those with more experience, Landmann Studios’ workshops encourage photographers to think critically about the city and the body, and go beyond a typical approach to street photography. Both tutors have careers as artists and academics, bringing sociological, anthropological and fine art knowledge, offering an extra aspect to their teaching that’s not seen elsewhere.
A media pack complete with striking parkour imagery is available upon request.
