TechnorRiver updates barcode software to support Optical Character Recognition Text labels
TechnoRiver is pleased to announce the availablity of a new release of its industry-leading label design and barcode software TechnoRiverStudio (formerly SmartCodeStudio). This update adds support for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Text Object. The OCR Text Object allows user to create labels with text strings that can be read easily by OCR scanners and softwares with great accuarcy. The software uses special fonts to create these OCR characters thus allowing users to integrate OCR into existing labels with ease. Both the OCR-A and OCR-B character sets, as defined by the ANSI standard (ANSI INCITS 17-1981 , ANSI X3.49-1975) are supported. Each character set comes in 3 different sizes, according to the specifications, and are widely used by typewriters, printers, cash registers and credit card printers industry. The OCR fonts are also incorporated into the barcode engine. This allows labels to comply with specific industry standards.
TechnoRiverStudio is also one of the few barcode softwares that support multi-language labels. It also implements all commonly used 1D/2D barcodes and modern barcodes like GS1-DataBar. GS1-Databar is expected to be the next major barcode symbology to be used on trade items.
