WIRELESS MUNDI Receives International Patent Application on Integrated Voice & Data Communication
WIRELESS MUNDI Takes the Reigns on All-in-One Voice and Data Devices -MADRID, SPAIN – (June 11, 2008) – WIRELESS MUNDI, a leading manufacturer of advanced Multi-Service Business Gateways (MSBGs), today announced the publication by WIPO of its international patent (PCT) application on Integrated Voice and Data Communication Center.
This patent claims an integrated voice and data communication center that empowers Unified Communications (UC) of both media, and includes converged technologies, all integrated in a single platform of modular and scalable architecture. It comprises a PBX, routing, basic/advanced services, configuration and monitoring modules, and can be connected through adaptors to voice (POTS, ISDN, PRI, cellular, VoIP) and data (wired and wireless) networks. The patent covers the concept of MSBG and describes an ideal platform to deploy advanced UC solutions in enterprises.
COMMS MUNDI, a product designed and manufactured by WIRELESS MUNDI, exemplifies this patent. It includes six technologies in a single device: Telephony (advanced VoIP PBX with videoconferencing), Networking (router, VLAN, level 7 traffic-shaping, multi-interface load balancing), IP security and Unified Threat Management (firewall, VPN, certification entity, advanced proxy, antivirus, antispam, IDS and captive/authentication portal), Services (web, mail and file servers, virtual machines, databases, CRM, call center), and an Integrated Management System with a powerful Monitoring Service. It also contains UC functions, acting as a gateway between wireless, mobile, SMS, fax, file and e-mail.
“A new generation of devices based on this idea is now emerging from several leaders including Cisco, Siemens, Alcatel, Avaya, Nortel and others and could be the killer solutions for IT/UC growth,” said Enrique Cimadevila, CEO of WIRELESS MUNDI. “This patent will protect our position as the innovator of such solutions and put us in an enviable position as a critical partner for vendors undoubtedly moving in this direction.”
Full-featured, fully integrated solutions will provide a simple, affordable UC platform for market segments not properly covered, such as SMEs, branch offices and emerging countries’ enterprises. Carriers, ISPs and contents/services providers were afforded new ways to sell IT services and applications by deploying them inside customer premises or by total IT outsourcing (IT-as-a-service). Additionally, this is a clear “green technology” solution considering its very low consumption, conditioning requirements and space needed.
