Intech Hawaii Strengthens CMMC Leadership with Second CMMC Certified Assessor on Staff

Press release from: Intech Hawaii

/ PR Agency: EasyPRwire
Only three Certified CMMC Assessors serve Hawaii. Two work at Intech Hawaii.

Intech Hawaii, a Hawaii-based managed services provider specializing in managed IT, cybersecurity, and CMMC compliance, today announced that Terence Tang, vice president, client strategy at Intech Hawaii, has earned certification as a CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA) through ISACA, the governing body for CMMC certification.

The credential makes Tang the second Certified CMMC Assessor on Intech Hawaii's team, and one of only three in Hawaii.

The designation reflects a rigorous qualification process that includes formal training, testing, and adherence to strict conduct and conflict-of-interest standards set by ISACA.

CMMC Certified Assessors are authorized to evaluate organizations against Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements, a Department of Defense mandate for contractors and subcontractors that handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

The announcement also reinforces a distinction Intech Hawaii already holds: the company is the only CMMC Level 2 certified managed services provider in Hawaii. Having met the same requirements, it helps clients prepare for.

No other MSP in the region can point to that combination - an organization that has been through its own CMMC Level 2 assessment, paired with in-house assessor-level expertise on staff.

"Earning this certified credential is personal to me, but the real value is what it means for the companies we work with," said Tang.

"Guiding a defense contractor through CMMC takes more than knowing the standard on paper.

It takes firsthand knowledge of how an assessment is actually conducted, what assessors look for, and where organizations tend to fall short.

Combined with the fact that we're the only CMMC Level 2 certified MSP in Hawaii and Guam, our clients get a level of firsthand credibility that's rare in this market."

Why this matters for military defense contractors in Hawaii

For DoD contractors and subcontractors across Hawaii, CMMC compliance is no longer optional.

Companies that fail to meet required maturity levels risk losing eligibility for defense contracts, regardless of past performance or technical capability.

Yet the region has limited access to assessor-level CMMC expertise, leaving many organizations to rely on mainland consultants unfamiliar with local infrastructure, connectivity constraints, and operating realities specific to Hawaii and Guam.

With both CMMC Certified Assessors in Hawaii now on staff, Intech Hawaii is positioned to give defense contractors something rare in this market: assessor-level insight applied directly to their compliance readiness, delivered by a team based in the same time zone and familiar with the same operating environment.

"Our clients don't need us to explain what CMMC is," Tang added.

"They need to know whether their environment, their evidence, and their documentation will hold up when it counts.

Having gone through our own Level 2 assessment and now holding this credential personally, I can tell them exactly what to expect, because we've lived it from both sides."

Intech Hawaii emphasized that certification and assessment outcomes always depend on each organization's specific environment, scope, and evidence.

Achieving a favorable CMMC assessment result depends on the client's own systems and practices, and final certification decisions rest with authorized third-party assessment organizations, not with Intech Hawaii.

Intech Hawaii's role is to help clients prepare, remediate, and strengthen their posture ahead of formal assessment.
