Sydney, Australia - Steampunk Australia proudly announces the arrival of four internationally acclaimed judges who will oversee the First Annual International Steampunk Art Competition, now open worldwide with AUD $2,000 in cash prizes for creators of original steampunk artwork.
This landmark event invites artists across the globe to submit original works in any medium - including painting, sculpture, photography, costume, leatherwork, contraptions, mixed media, and more - provided the work is entirely human‐made, with no AI‐generated or AI‐assisted artwork permitted.
A World-Class Judging Panel
The competition is adjudicated by four extraordinary figures, each representing a distinct creative world - art, culture, storytelling, history, and performance.
Professor Elemental
International Steampunk Artist & Performer
A beloved UK steampunk icon known for his eccentric hip-hop career, worldwide tours, and whimsical artistic flair. Professor Elemental brings a passion for creativity, humour, and craftsmanship - along with his famed collection of "forbidden art" and his legendary orangutan companion, Geoffrey.
G.D. Falksen
Award-Winning Author & Screenwriter
Renowned for The Secret Life of Kitty Granger, Maiden of War, The Transatlantic Conspiracy, and the Ouroboros Cycle series, Falksen contributes deep expertise in narrative, world‐building, and thematic interpretation.
Dr Kathryn Spurling
Historian, Author & Art Collector

A fourth‐generation member of Australia's iconic McGuigan winemaking dynasty, Lisa McGuigan is celebrated for her bold, gothic‐glam design aesthetic and her award‐winning VAMP cellar door in Pokolbin. She brings a fearless creative edge and entrepreneurial insight to the judging panel.
Two Major Titles & $2,000 in Prize Money
The competition awards two major honours, each celebrating different aspects of steampunk artistry:
Judges' Grand Prize - $1,500 AUD
Awarded by the judging panel based on originality, craftsmanship, interpretation of theme, and artistic impact.
People's Choice Award - $500 AUD
Decided entirely by public vote during the global voting period.
One artist may win both titles.
