Buseck - Imagine you wake up one morning, jolt awake drenched in sweat, and find yourself in a world that seems so utterly crazy and unimaginable that your mind instinctively cries out: This can only be a bizarre nightmare!

You look out the window and see toddlers in strollers with smartphones strapped to their faces to keep them quiet with a constant stream of shrill noise. Three-year-olds no longer ride balance bikes through the park but are driven around in battery-powered mini plastic off-road vehicles. Schoolchildren whiz past on e-scooters on the sidewalks because even riding a regular bike has become too tiring for them. A society that has forgotten how to walk and whose brains are being bombarded by algorithms, while no one can find the time anymore to educate themselves on issues that affect their own survival and that of future generations.

You want to splash water on your face to wake up from this delirium--but when you open your eyes, you realize the most cruel part of this story: It's not a dream. It's reality.

The Absurdity of Modern Construction Dystopia

The nightmare continues where people seek refuge: within their own four walls. You look at the construction industry and can't believe your eyes. Synthetic building materials and chemical insulation are produced at enormous energy costs, leaving a devastating carbon footprint. But instead of putting a stop to this, a circus-like system has been invented: you simply buy green certificates. A modern form of CO? emissions trading--those who pay are allowed to poison the environment and proudly call the result "climate-neutral."

At the same time, policymakers are passing laws on energy-efficient renovations that, upon closer inspection, turn out to be utter nonsense: Living spaces are hermetically sealed with highly complex, chemical-laden composite systems, and "oak-look" plastic is glued to the floors--plastic that ends up as hazardous waste after just a few years. All of this to meet artificial standards written by the very same lobby groups that sell these products.

The displacement of timeless, traditional building materials: wood, clay, lime, and stone

The most incomprehensible thing about this nightmare is that the real solutions have been available for millions of years. Wood, clay, traditional lime, and natural stone such as travertine are humanity's original building materials. They require no chemical mix-and-match kits, do not off-gas toxins, regulate the indoor climate on their own, and last for centuries.

But modern industry has created a fundamental problem with nature: You cannot file a monopoly patent on a real stone, a bag of pure clay, or a piece of wood.

Consequently, the public has been led to believe that genuine natural materials are "complicated," while chemical imitations with colorful DIN standards are celebrated as "progress." Anyone who picks up so-called "bagged lime" at a home improvement store is usually served a processed chemical mixture: To make the plaster machine-compatible, the industry mixes in Portland cement, whose binding agents have been burnt to death at temperatures exceeding 1,400 degrees. As a result, the material loses its natural ability to absorb CO? from the indoor air as part of the lime cycle--whereas genuine, traditional air lime is fired at a gentle 800 to 900 degrees and, once on the wall, binds CO? back from the environment.

The Final Chapter of the Nightmare: Intellectual Self-Surrender

This collective mental shutdown continues in the realm of technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) could be the most powerful tool for education and enlightenment in human history. Instead, society uses it as a crutch of convenience to completely shut down its own thinking. People let others do the thinking for them, lose the ability to question critically, and blindly believe every piece of nonsense that flickers from a screen.

We pay the price with our health, our mental well-being, and our living spaces. Those who are surrounded by plastic, never experience real tactile sensations, no longer move around, and put their brains on standby lose all sense of grounding. The spaces feel sterile and cold--a reflection of an impoverished culture of living.

Conclusion: How to Awaken from This Nightmare
