Ever Wanted to Be the One in the Dark? vb30 Casts Scare Actors at CineStar Neumuenster

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, the team behind Halloween House vb30 in Boostedt will take over the lobby of CineStar Neumuenster to find its scare actors for the 2026 season. The open casting call runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Anyone interested can simply stop by, no registration required.

The timing is deliberate. The horror film "Insidious: Out of the Further" opens at CineStar Neumuenster on Aug. 20. Two days later, the lobby becomes the place to find out what it's like on the other side of the screen, as the one doing the scaring.

vb30 calls its performers "Scaries." They step into the characters that brave visitors will meet on Oct. 30 and 31 at the Halloween Attraction, under this year's theme "Grimm's Nightmare," and send a proper chill down their spines.

No experience necessary. If you like dressing up, don't mind an audience, and can commit to the rehearsals and the two evenings in October, this is your chance.

What Happens on Casting Night

Forget the formal job interview. In the lobby you'll meet the team behind the region's best-known Halloween house, get a first look at this season's roles, run through a few short acting exercises, and pick up all the details on dates and scheduling. Anyone who convinces the crew and wants to stay on board moves into the preparation phase: rehearsals, costumes, professional special-effects makeup and prosthetics, and finally two evenings spent scaring more than a thousand visitors using every trick in the book.

"At a horror movie night, we're pretty sure to meet the right people, and we're thrilled that CineStar Neumuenster is hosting us," says Oliver Klaeffling, founder of vb30. "A lot of people have wondered what it would be like to be the one lurking around the corner. On Aug. 22, anyone can find out, whatever their age. The main thing is enjoying the thrill."

"A trip to the movies works because the whole room experiences the story together," says Massimiliano Coppola, general manager of CineStar Neumuenster. "What vb30 does in Boostedt runs on the same principle at walk-through scale: a story, lighting, sound, dramatic structure and real emotion, for everyone. That's why hosting the search for new performers is a natural fit for us."

Background: "Grimm's Nightmare"

The 2026 season from the Boostedt horror crew is titled "Grimm's Nightmare." The walk-through leads visitors into fairy tales everyone supposedly knows from childhood, in versions no one remembers. Visitors find themselves inside the Brothers Grimm's nightmares, the ones they are forced to relive night after night.

We won't give away more in advance, but the tagline alone hints at how dark it gets: "Your fairy tales aren't what you think they are."
