REA Card Partners with YouLend: Flexible Financing for Brick-and-Mortar Retailers in Germany

Press release from: REA Card GmbH

REA Card is partnering with YouLend, a platform for embedded finance. This gives small and medium-sized businesses direct access to flexible business financing. With its "REA Terminal Loan," REA Card is specifically addressing merchants' need for greater financial flexibility.

This new service significantly simplifies the lending process for local retailers. Instead of relying on the lengthy credit checks of traditional banks, merchants now receive approvals based directly on their card sales at the terminal. For business owners, this represents a massive relief: There is no longer any need to fill out time-consuming loan applications. Instead, the financing offer is derived fully automatically from the transaction history. This readily available capital can be optimally used for purchasing inventory, bridging seasonal fluctuations, or making important investments.

Customers such as local restaurants, kiosks, retailers, and hair salons form the backbone of the economy. In the past, this segment was often neglected by traditional banks because small loan amounts were considered unprofitable. However, since card payments now dominate everyday life, the terminals generate exactly the sales data needed for fair lending. A business may not have audited financial statements, but it does have reliable card transaction data in the system. This gives merchants easy access to capital.

Providing financing through YouLend is another step for REA Card toward supporting merchants even more comprehensively in their day-to-day operations. Following the introduction of purchase protection in February 2026, the partnership with YouLend is another measure to meaningfully expand the range of services related to the terminal. The goal is to offer merchants direct added value at the point of sale and to support their growth as a reliable partner.

Card Payments in Small Businesses: When Does a Terminal Really Pay Off?
When does a card terminal become cost-effective for small businesses? The key factors are the average purchase amount per customer, the card usage rate, and the number of potential abandoned transactions without cashless payment. The 2026 EHI study estimates that card payments account for 65.1 percent of retail sales, while cash accounts for 32.3 percent. For individual payment transactions, the ratio is more balanced: According to the Bundesbank, 50.5 percent are

Many companies only begin to address the issue of DSFinV-K when a tax audit or POS inspection is imminent. However, this is precisely what can become a problem. During an audit, it is not enough to simply submit sales figures or daily closing reports. What is required is complete, structured, and machine-readable POS data that complies with legal requirements. DSFinV-K stands for _Digital Interface of the Tax Authority for Point-of-Sale Systems_

When a tax audit takes place--if not before--many companies find themselves asking: Is the cash register data complete, traceable, and available at all times? Although the term GDPdU--the abbreviation for _Principles for Data Access and the Verifiability of Digital Documents_--has officially been obsolete for years, it is still frequently used in everyday business. It usually refers to the ability to provide tax-relevant data in a way that allows tax authorities

PAN Number for Card Payments: Why the Card Number Is Important for Merchants
Card payments have long been part of everyday life in brick-and-mortar retail. As the number of digital transactions rises, so does the importance of technical card data behind the scenes. The so-called PAN--the technical card number for debit, credit, or girocards--plays a central role in this process. It becomes particularly important for merchants when payments need to be verified, incorrect transactions resolved, or chargebacks processed. The PAN, which stands for "Primary
