MrMed Pledges 1,000 Volunteering Hours for Caregivers

MrMed, which provides medicines for special diseases, has launched an initiative named "Care for the Caregiver" that provides support for the caregivers of patients suffering from critical illnesses such as cancer, rare diseases, and post-transplant care. The initiative was launched on the company's Impact Day, celebrated every year on June 26 in memory of Mrs Divya Jain, who served as the Administrative Head of MrMed and was also the wife of Co-founder Saurab Jain.

As part of this initiative, MrMed vowed to donate 1,000 hours of employee volunteering per year to lend a helping hand to caregivers, thereby giving them time to relax or attend to their personal matters. In addition, the employees have created a platform for caregivers to express their interests and share their suggestions on improving this scheme.

Saurab Jain, Co-Founder of MrMed, remarked, "Caregivers are an untold backbone of patient care in India. They give so much and very little in return. Care for the Caregiver is our promise to change that, to stand up for those who stand up for someone they care about, every single day. Effect Day embodies the values Divya stood and fought for while being a part of our journey, i.e., empathy, service, and belief in compassion, which is able to create real change."

Community service activities engaged volunteers in 16 cities, including Bengaluru, where employees teamed up with Samarthanam Trust to conduct educational and career-guidance programs. Similarly, 110 volunteers in Chennai took part in several important community service activities, which not only raised awareness regarding substance abuse through an awareness campaign but also conducted handwriting and hygiene sessions.

Among the remaining 14 cities, activities included helping elderly people register for Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY health cards, conducting food distribution drives, planting trees, supporting animal welfare, and volunteering in old-age homes and orphanages.
