2026 Landshut International Chamber Music Festival

World-Class Chamber Music to Be Performed in the City Hall Ballroom

Landshut, August 2026. From August 26 to 30, 2026, the Friends of Music Association (Freunde der Musik e.V.) Landshut, under the artistic direction of violinist Mikhail Pochekin, will host the Landshut International Chamber Music Festival for the fourth time. In six concerts, eighteen outstanding musicians from numerous countries will gather in the historic City Hall Ballroom, many of them visiting Landshut for the first time.

The festival has quickly become an integral part of the city's summer music scene, bringing together top international artists with the unique atmosphere of one of Germany's most beautiful medieval cities. Landshut looks back on a significant musical tradition: Orlando di Lasso himself worked at Trausnitz Castle for a time. The festival builds on this cultural heritage and once again makes the city a meeting place for the international chamber music scene.

The varied program includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Haydn, Bach, Rachmaninoff, Kod?ly, Berg, Shostakovich, Rebecca Clarke, Elgar, Paganini, and Liszt. A special focus is on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose music features in nearly all the concerts--from arrangements of Bach's fugues to the famous String Quintet in G minor, K. 516, and the Horn Quintet in E-flat major, K. 407.

The festive finale is Franz Schubert's Octet in F major, D 803, one of the most significant works in the chamber music repertoire. The festival is complemented by a matinee titled "In the Spirit of Opera," which combines operatic fantasies and virtuoso pieces.

The top-tier ensemble of artists is led by Mikhail Pochekin. Performers include, among others, Christian Tetzlaff, Simon Tetzlaff, Ivan Pochekin, Diana Tishchenko, Michail Lifits, Eldar Nebolsin, Pablo Barrag?n, Martina Consonni, Ivan Karizna, Yuya Okamoto, WenXiao Zheng, Jano Lisboa, and several festival scholarship recipients.
