RECAP:Carry1st Africa Cup 2026 North and West Africa Qualifiers
The Carry1st Africa Cup Sets the Stage for Africans at the COD: M World Championship 2026Please don't register now - this is the official poster for 2026
This monumental competition is a direct pathway for African COD: M esports players to the official Call of Duty: Mobile World
Championship 2026, the second time African gamers will be represented on the global stage.
The Experience of Five Regions, One Champion
The Carry1st Africa Cup Competition has captivated audiences across the continent, with the tournament's tagline, "Five Regions, One Champion," perfectly encapsulating the fierce regional battles that have led to this point.
The structure of the qualifiers ensured broad participation and intense competition across various zones:
● West Africa: Covering 20 countries from Ghana to Cameroon, this region's qualifiers were run entirely online, highlighting the accessibility and widespread appeal of mobile esports.
• North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia followed a similar online format, demonstrating strong competitive play.
• Southern Africa: Nations like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia battled through their regional path, culminating in a thrilling LAN finale in Cape Town.
• East Africa: This region also opened its doors for
qualifiers, adding another layer of excitement to the
competition.
Finally, Nigeria: As a standalone region due to its significant esports presence and being the host country.
The Final Showdown - Abuja, not Lagos, not confirmed but most likely.
The Carry1st Africa Cup 2026 finale will unfold on the 5th and 6th of September 2026, with the prize pool doubled from $15,000 in 2025 to $30,000.
Key Team Updates and Transfers:
The dynamic nature of esports is evident in recent team developments:
1. Paradox Gaming won the Carry1st Africa Cup Northern qualifiers. Remember, Paradox lost to Bear Clan(former Team Instinct) in 2025 at the grand finals in Lagos, Nigeria, but in 2026, they won the North African finals even though they represented the southern region in 2025. Here is why!
Interestingly, the 2025 champions, Bear Clan (formerly known as Team Instinct), no longer exist because the players were all signed by Paradox Gaming. What happened to the players who were in Paradox before this shift? They all departed.
2. Daniello, a former Paradox player, has since joined Cyclone and will compete in the Carry1st Africa Cup Southern Africa Regional Finals on the 19th of JULY 2026, happening at the African Gaming Championship, GrandWest, Cape Town, South Africa.
3. In the West African Region, Culture Esports and Mighty Aura (Ghana) were crowned winners after a superb display. Joining them is the
Updating the African Esports Scene, differentiating what happened in the 2025 Carry1st Africa Cup, and highlighting 2026 activities is super important to keep fans up to date.
This Grand Final transcends regional pride and prize money; it signifies Africa's arrival on the global Call of Duty: Mobile stage. The winners will secure a coveted slot in the official CODM World Championship 2026 and represent the entire continent, facing the world's best teams.
Activision's official recognition of the Carry1st Africa Cup as a qualifier legitimizes what African gamers have long known: the talent here is world-class and deserves a place on esports' biggest stage.
As Jeffrey Gullett, Call of Duty: Mobile's co-head, noted, "This tournament is shaping up to be a major moment for African esports," creating real opportunities for regional players to break through.

Each region will bring its unique flavour on September 5-6, 2026. Get ready for an unforgettable showdown.
