Chris Casamassa leads the bully.org mission

Bully.org, the bullying prevention nonprofit on a mission to help one million kids become Bully Proof, announced the expansion of its programs into cyberbullying and AI-era digital safety, responding to a wave of new state laws and a sharp rise in AI-generated image incidents in schools.

Bullying no longer stays in the hallway. It follows students across social groups and digital spaces, and artificial intelligence has given it a new weapon: deepfake images that can place any child's face on any picture. The National Education Association has called AI deepfakes in schools a disturbing trend, and districts across the country are handling their first synthetic image incidents with no playbook.

Bully.org's answer is a set of free resources for families and schools:

- A 48-Hour Response Protocol for parents whose child is targeted by a fake image, built on the published guidance of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, and the FBI: what to save, what never to delete, who to notify, and in what order.

- An Evidence Kit of ready-to-use documents, including a school report letter, platform takedown requests, and a law enforcement summary, so families report incidents with records instead of panic.

- A parent guide to deepfakes and cyberbullying, covering warning signs, prevention conversations, and the rule that keeps well-meaning kids out of legal trouble: never forward a harmful image, not even to warn a friend.

- A growing online community where parents, educators, and coaches share confidence-based prevention tools, courses, and training.

The expansion builds on the organization's flagship Bully Proof Program, developed by Chris Casamassa, 10th-degree black belt, American Karate Hall of Fame inductee, president of Red Dragon Karate's 15 Southern California studios, and known to a generation of parents as Scorpion in the original Mortal Kombat film. In Los Nietos School District (Whittier, CA), the program's approach contributed to monthly suspensions falling from roughly 50 to fewer than 3 across four schools over two years.

"We don't teach kids to fight back. We teach them they don't have to," said Casamassa. "This was never about kicks and punches. It's about confidence. I've spent my career turning shy kids into confident leaders, and AI doesn't change that job. It just gave bullying a new weapon. The answer is the same one we teach every day: a kid who knows who they are, and a family with a plan."

The timing follows a shift in the legal landscape. California's Phone-Free School Act and Virginia's 24-hour parental notification law took effect July 1, 2026, and the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act now requires platforms to remove non-consensual intimate imagery, including AI-generated images, within 48 hours of a valid report. Schools and districts are actively seeking certified prevention partners to meet the new requirements.

Bully.org also certifies martial arts school owners and coaches as Bully Proof trainers, extending the program into communities nationwide.

Parents and educators can access the free resources and join the community at bully.org.
