The photographic art project "ewigundendlich," which explores the culture of dying and funerals, is expanding its funding through two channels: sponsorship partnerships with companies in the funeral industry and support from private individuals via GoFundMe. The current funding total stands at 29,130 euros. At the same time, production is moving forward: 26 of the 40 planned images have already been completed, and plans include a project-related exhibition, ongoing press relations, and a photo book.

Two-Pronged Funding Approach: Industry Sponsorship and Support via GoFundMe

"ewigundendlich" combines artistic presentation with a transparent support model. Sponsorship partnerships are available for companies in the funeral industry, creating a predictable foundation for the project's continued work. At the same time, GoFundMe gives private individuals the opportunity to provide ongoing support for the long-term production.

Having raised 29,130 euros to date, the project demonstrates how long-term initiatives relevant to cultural journalism can be sustained through multiple channels--without compromising the goal of addressing complex, sensitive topics such as dying, saying goodbye, and funerals through imagery. "Funding through sponsorships and GoFundMe demonstrates that artistic work can be realized even when it requires time, preparation, and ongoing production," says Ron Kuhwede.

The focus here is on transparent framework conditions: Support is tied to the project's further development, while sponsorship and community funding appeal to different target audiences. This creates a model that offers both industry partners and interested individuals a concrete point of engagement to support photographic art centered on the culture of dying and funerals.

Production is moving forward: 26 of 40 images completed, photo book in the planning stages

In terms of content, "ewigundendlich" is working on a series of images that artistically stages the culture of dying and funerals--not merely staging it, but visually reflecting on it. Of a total of 40 planned motifs, 26 have currently been completed. This interim report marks tangible progress in production and underscores that the project is already at an advanced stage.

Alongside the production of the motifs, "ewigundendlich" is expanding its public visibility: a project-related exhibition is planned; in addition, ongoing public relations efforts are underway to bring the project's development, its funding, and the artistic exploration of the theme into the public discourse. The next phase will be a photo book that brings the motifs together in a curated format.

"Each motif is part of a larger narrative. The current status shows that, step by step, the idea is evolving into a coherent series," says Ron Kuhwede. Thus, the approach remains clear: the artistic work and the funding are developing in parallel--as a long-term project that is making steady progress in both production and communication.
