Order of the Southern Star NGO and the Municipality of Perquenco Establish a Historic Partnership to Promote Cultural Heritage and International Cooperation

Mayor Alejandro Sepulveda Tapia and Cesar Aravena Manriquez sign the Friendship and Mutual Cooperation Agreement
A Shared Commitment to Perquenco's Development
The Declaration creates a long-term partnership designed to strengthen the municipality's cultural identity, preserve its historical heritage and support local development through projects of public interest. Planned initiatives include conferences, exhibitions, educational programs, heritage tourism projects, historical outreach activities and partnerships with schools, cultural organizations, Indigenous communities and local associations.
Perquenco: A Town with an Exceptional Historical Legacy
Perquenco occupies a unique place in the history of Araucanía. In 1860, Orélie-Antoine de Tounens established the capital of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia in the town, giving Perquenco a distinctive place in Franco-Chilean history.
Today, this remarkable historical legacy represents an important cultural and tourism asset that contributes to Perquenco's identity and international visibility. Through this Declaration of Friendship and Mutual Cooperation, both partners seek to preserve, promote and share this heritage through cultural, educational, historical and tourism initiatives for the benefit of the municipality and its residents, in accordance with the principles set out in the agreement.
Looking Toward the Future
Beyond its symbolic significance, the Declaration provides a framework for expanding international cooperation, preserving cultural heritage, encouraging intercultural dialogue and promoting sustainable local development. Both institutions share the conviction that history, culture and international partnerships can serve as powerful drivers of education, community development and mutual understanding between peoples.
Recognizing Those Who Made This Partnership Possible
The Order of the Southern Star NGO extends its sincere congratulations to Mr. Alejandro Sepúlveda Tapia, Mayor of Perquenco, and to the members of the Municipal Council for their commitment to this international cooperation initiative.
The organization also expresses its deep gratitude to Mr. César Aravena Manríquez, the NGO's representative in Araucanía, whose dedication, perseverance and spirit of dialogue played a decisive role in bringing this partnership to fruition.
The ceremony was further honored by the virtual participation of His Royal Highness Prince Antoine V, whose presence highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation and promoting the historical heritage of Perquenco.
A Shared Vision
Through this Declaration of Friendship and Mutual Cooperation, the Municipality of Perquenco and the Order of the Southern Star NGO begin a new chapter of collaboration based on mutual respect, cultural heritage preservation, international cooperation and intercultural dialogue.
Together, they aspire to enhance Perquenco's cultural, educational and tourism potential while promoting its remarkable historical legacy and strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation between communities and peoples.
