Alephoo Expands HL7 FHIR R4 Native Interoperability to Five Latin American Countries

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - June 19, 2026 - Alephoo, an Argentina-based healthcare technology company, today expanded the native HL7 FHIR R4 capabilities of its Hospital Information System (HIS) platform across hospitals and clinics in five Latin American countries - Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay - to address the growing gap in healthcare data interoperability across the region.

HL7 FHIR R4 (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is the international standard for clinical data exchange between systems. While its adoption is mature in the United States and Europe, deployment in Latin American hospitals has been uneven, with most regional vendors implementing FHIR as an add-on rather than a native architecture. This forces hospitals to invest in custom integration projects every time they need to exchange data with a laboratory, a payer, another hospital or a regulatory authority.

"What we see daily in hospitals across Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay is a paradox," said Gerardo Herrero, CEO of Alephoo. "Each country is moving forward with its own interoperability mandates - NOM-024 in Mexico, the Ministry of Health interoperability decree in Chile, RIPS and ADRES integration in Colombia, Ley 27.553 in Argentina - but the underlying HIS infrastructure most of them rely on was not designed for native FHIR exchange. The result is good policy frustrated by legacy architecture. That is the gap we are closing."

Alephoo's platform implements HL7 FHIR R4 as the native protocol for all clinical data exchange, not as a translation layer added on top of a proprietary format. This allows hospitals to:

- Exchange electronic health records with external laboratories, pharmacies and other healthcare institutions using a single standard.
- Integrate with national authorities such as the Mexican SAT, the Colombian SuperSalud and the Argentine ARCA (formerly AFIP) for compliance reporting.
- Enable patient portability of medical records between hospitals within and across countries.
- Connect with national interoperability initiatives such as Colombia's SISPRO, Chile's MINSAL interoperability framework and Argentina's federated data exchange.

The expanded capabilities cover the platform's full clinical, administrative and financial modules, including Electronic Health Record with SNOMED CT and ICD-10 coding, electronic prescription (E-Rx) compliant with each country's regulatory framework, smart pharmacy with stock and lot traceability, hospitalization management including triage, bed mapping and operating room scheduling, and financial cycle with country-specific billing.

The platform is certified with ISO 27001 vigente (current) by Bureau Veritas, AWS Advanced Tier Partner, and currently manages more than 5.2 million patient records across hospitals, clinics and IPS networks throughout the region.
