Scratching allowed--the first piece of cat furniture you won't want to hide
Millions of cat lovers are familiar with the dilemma of balancing a beautiful home with a happy cat. A young German brand is now solving this problem and turning the scratching post into a favorite piece of furniture. We've all been there. You've spent weeks searching for the perfect sofa, coordinating the cushions, and adjusting the lighting to be just warm enough so that the living room finally looks like something out of a magazine. And then there it is: a bulky scratching post made of beige plush that dominates the entire room. Putting it away doesn't help. Neither does hiding it. Because the cat scratches the sofa anyway.
Anyone who lives with a cat knows this little defeat. And it's anything but a rare occurrence. In a survey of 2,465 cat owners, 58 percent reported unwanted scratching on furniture, walls, or carpets. Nearly 84 percent of cats scratch in the wrong places--even when a dedicated scratching post is available. The reason is as simple as it is frustrating: Many products don't fit either the living space or the cat's natural behavior.
"Anyone who loves a cat shouldn't have to choose between a beautiful home and a happy cat."
This is exactly where StilKat comes in. In May 2026, the new German brand will launch, transforming the scratching post from a necessary evil into a deliberate piece of furniture--one that isn't shoved into a corner but thoughtfully placed. Made from sustainable, plastic-free materials, without artificial additives. And completely without catnip, because the scratching surface is designed so that cats instinctively accept it. The design blends into modern living spaces as if it were never a scratching post.
For cat owners, this means: no more guilty conscience about their own furnishings. And no more cats scratching the sofa because the scratching post is gathering dust somewhere. Beauty and instinct are no longer mutually exclusive--from now on, they sit on the same piece.
