NTD Announces 2026 International Piano Competition - A Celebration of Classical Music Heritage

New York, May 2026 - New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD) proudly announces the 8th NTD International Piano Competition, a world-class event dedicated to promoting and preserving the traditions of Western classical piano music. This prestigious competition centers on masterpieces from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods, reaffirming the artistic legacy these repertoires carry for future generations.

As part of NTD's global cultural initiatives, the competition provides a distinguished platform for exceptional pianists to perform, compete, and gain international exposure. The semifinal, final, and awards ceremony will be live-streamed on NTD and its affiliated online media networks and platforms.
Mission

The New Tang Dynasty (NTD) International Piano Competition is one in a series of international cultural and arts events sponsored by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD). The mission of this competition is to promote traditional arts of pure authenticity, pure goodness and pure beauty and to bring back the glory of piano masterpieces from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods.

The competition's commitment to artistic excellence is a means to allow the 250-year legacy of piano literature to flourish. We believe this repertoire is a treasure of mankind and should be passed onto future generations to come.

Competition Schedule
• Registration & Application Deadline: June 30, 2026
• Commissioned Composition Sent to Qualified Contestants: Approx. 6 weeks before competition
• Competition Finals: September 1st-5th, 2026

All rounds will follow professional concert standards. Semifinal and final performance rounds, along with the Winners' Concert & Awards Ceremony, will be live streamed and an edited recording will later be broadcast as a TV special on NTD's network.

Repertoire & Performance Requirements
Contestants must perform from memory and present music exclusively from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.

Commissioned Composition
The Competition is honored to receive authorization from the world-renowned composer and Artistic Director of Shen Yun Performing Arts, Mr. D.F., to select one piece from his extremely precious music works created over the past 20 years and rearrange as the Commissioned Composition.

The Commissioned Composition inherits the characteristics of Shen Yun's music, based on traditional Chinese pentatonic melodies, it uses the Western piano to express the spirit and flavor of Chinese classical music. It blends the essence of both Eastern and Western classical music, interpreting a profound sense of the divine. As epic as a grand saga, vast and magnificent, profoundly soaring the soul.

The Commissioned Composition stands as the signature highlight of the NTD International Piano Competition.

Awards & Cash Prizes
A total of US $25,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including:
• Gold Award: $10,000
• Silver Award: $6,000
• Bronze Award: $3,000
• Best Rendition Award of the Commissioned Composition: Two winners, $3,000 each
• Outstanding Performance Award (non-cash distinction)

Eligibility & Application
The competition is open to accomplished pianists and advanced piano students aged 17 to 35 with broad mastery of the classical repertoire. Completed applications - including performance videos, photos, ID documentation, and the non-refundable US $250 entry fee - must be received by June 30, 2026.
Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
