The 2026 NTD International Piano Competition to Bring Elite Classical Talent to New York City

New York, NY - The NTD International Piano Competition is thrilled to announce the return of its 8th edition, taking place in New York City in Fall 2026. Renowned for celebrating the mastery of classical piano performance and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the Western classical tradition, this prestigious competition will gather top pianists from around the globe to showcase their artistry in one of the world's cultural capitals.

The 2026 competition will be structured in multiple rounds. Each round will be judged by a panel of distinguished experts who seek to identify technical excellence, stylistic integrity, and the unique emotional depth that defines an extraordinary musician.

Repertoire Requirements for the 2026 NTD International Piano Competition:

- Preliminary Round: Pianists will perform two pieces. Select one of each composer's work.
1) J.S. Bach: select one of Bach's works:
- Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D minor, BWV 903
- Fantasy and Fugue in A minor, BWV 904
2) F. Chopin: select one of Chopin's works:
- Etudes, op. 10 No. 1, No. 2
- Etudes, op. 25 No. 6, No. 10, No. 11

- Semifinal Round: Pianists will perform two pieces:
1) A Commissioned Composition
2) Ludwig van Beethoven: Select one complete sonata (no repeats) from the following:
- Sonata No. 3 in C major, op. 2 No. 3
- Sonata No. 21 in C major, op. 53
- Sonata No. 30 in E major, op. 109
- Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major, op. 110
- Sonata No. 32 in C minor, op. 111

- Final Round:
- 45 minutes solo recital
