Goettingen/Munich, May 26, 2026 - myriameat, a pioneer in cultured meat derived from pluripotent stem cells, today announced a significant scientific breakthrough: For the first time, the team has succeeded in generating a pluripotent stem cell line from roe deer and successfully converting it into real roe deer muscle cells using its patented differentiation protocol.

With this step, myriameat lays the technological foundation for the development of cultured roe deer fillet. The roe deer muscle cells obtained are a key building block for producing real roe deer meat in the future, independent of slaughter, game harvesting, or conventional animal husbandry.

The new roe deer iPSC line expands myriameat's platform technology to another animal species and demonstrates that the company's approach is not limited to pork. Following previous successes with cultured pork, the successful differentiation of roe deer iPSCs opens new perspectives for high-quality cuts of meat derived from cell culture.

The focus of the work is on the production of real muscle cells. myriameat is thus not pursuing the goal of a substitute product, but rather the development of real cell-based meat. The approach combines modern stem cell biology with the vision of a more sustainable, ethically responsible, and future-proof meat production.

Roe deer meat is considered a high-quality, distinctive meat with a special culinary tradition. At the same time, its availability is naturally limited. Cultured roe deer meat could, in the long term, open up a new option for making special meat qualities accessible without having to slaughter animals and without placing additional pressure on wildlife populations.

The successful differentiation marks an early but crucial step in development. Building on this, myriameat aims to further characterize the cell line, optimize process steps, and advance the application of the technology toward structured muscle tissue and, ultimately, cultured venison fillet products.
