According to the analysis, prolonged periods of pressure fundamentally alter the demands placed on leadership. Tactical Management argues that operational leadership no longer primarily means organizational coordination or administrative management. Instead, leadership is increasingly becoming a discipline of execution based on accountability, prioritization, decision-making speed, and the ability to maintain operational stability amid uncertainty.

Tactical Management views this development as particularly relevant for German-speaking SMEs, as many companies are simultaneously confronted with succession issues and structural economic change.

The analysis also highlights that the quality of operational leadership is increasingly decisive for the success of restructuring measures. Areas such as working capital management, supplier restructuring, location consolidation, governance discipline, IT migration, and portfolio concentration are described as operational processes that require direct managerial responsibility rather than purely financial control.

According to Tactical Management, active ownership models in Europe are likely to continue gaining importance in the coming years, as more challenging market conditions make operational implementation expertise increasingly more valuable than pure financing mechanics.
