EMBank Maintains Stable Performance in 2025 Amid Continued Investments
European Merchant Bank (EMBank) continued its steady growth trajectory in 2025, reinforcing its position within Lithuania's SME-focused banking segment while maintaining a disciplined approach to long-term investment. Over the year, the Bank's loan portfolio expanded by 21%, reflecting sustained demand for structured financing. Gross income reached EUR 11.08 million, deposits remained stable at EUR 199 million, and total assets increased to EUR 214.7 million, signalling consistent balance sheet development. The Bank's lending activity remained a central driver of performance. The loan portfolio grew from EUR 36 million to EUR 44 million, while total income increased from EUR 10.81 million to EUR 11.08 million. Net interest income stood at EUR 4.3 million, broadly in line with the previous year, indicating a stable margin environment despite broader market adjustments.
Net profit amounted to EUR 573 thousand, compared to EUR 1.06 million in 2024. This decrease reflects continued investment in technology, compliance systems, and risk management capabilities, which remain essential in the evolving European regulatory landscape.
Commenting on the results, Sarp Demiray, CEO of European Merchant Bank, noted that the business environment in Lithuania remained stable, with companies approaching growth more deliberately: "Small and medium-sized businesses are increasingly focused on long-term value creation. Financing needs have become more structured, and this is shaping how we support our clients."
He added that the Bank's strategic investments reflect a deliberate approach to strengthening its operational foundations: "We have consistently invested in technological solutions, compliance systems, and our team. These are conscious decisions that allow us to build a stronger, more resilient bank and maintain the trust of our customers."
Ekmel Cilingir, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EMBank, emphasised that sustainable growth in banking increasingly depends on balancing innovation with security: "Growth today is closely linked to the ability to combine high security standards with a smooth and efficient customer experience. Continuous investment in technology and governance is essential to achieving this balance."
Looking ahead, EMBank plans to maintain its focus on financing small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly those investing in automation, digitalisation, and sustainability. At the same time, the Bank will continue to strengthen its compliance environment, enhance anti-money laundering monitoring, and further develop governance frameworks to support long-term, sustainable growth.
