Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Celebrates National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day with Community Open House on May 2nd

(Southampton, NY) - In honor of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on Saturday May 2nd, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) will host a special community Open House celebration featuring Councilperson Michael Iasilli. The event invites community members to visit SASF, see its recently renovated facility and experience firsthand the vital work being done to support homeless animals in the region.
SASF recently underwent a $350,000 renovation (funded through grants, community contributions and donations) which upgraded the kennels, interiors, septic system and the floors. The shelter building is owned by the Town of Southampton, but the shelter is run and operated by the nonprofit foundation. SASF is one of the only open admission facilities on the East End, accepting all animals brought to the shelter regardless of breed, age or medical condition.
Guests will meet adoptable pets, learn more about volunteer and foster opportunities all while exploring the shelter and connecting with staff, volunteers, and the adoptable animals. A highlight of the event will be a mini dog parade showcasing a variety of adoptable dogs currently seeking loving forever homes.

"Whether through adoption, fostering, volunteering, or advocacy, every person has the ability to make a real difference in the lives of shelter pets."
