From Highland Steel to the Araucanian Throne : Blacksmith Darren Ainsworth Makes History

Renowned Scottish blacksmith Darren Ainsworth receiving his insignia and patent as a Knight of the Order of the Steel Crown
Master Metalwork and the Consecration of Scottish Craftsmanship
Renowned master metallurgist and Director of the Georgian Forge in Easdale, Knight Darren Ainsworth was distinguished for his exceptional contribution to the prestige of the Monarchy. He is the creator of the Sovereign's new Steel Crown, a masterpiece handcrafted in the spring of 2025. This unique piece, embodying both resilience and technical finesse, now stands as the centerpiece of the Crown Jewels.
By selecting the expertise of a Scottish forge for the creation of this sacred object, the Kingdom pays tribute to authentic high-end craftsmanship, capable of transforming raw metal into a world-class patrimonial symbol.
A Solemn Ceremony in the Heart of the Highlands
While the masterpiece was officially presented to H.R.H. Prince Antoine V during an international gala in Monaco on November 22, 2025-an event that also featured a posthumous tribute to civil rights icon Josephine Baker-the formal recognition of the artisan took place on Scottish soil.
On March 9, 2026, H.E. Dame Nina Saleh Ahmed, Duchess of Neuquén and Chancellor of the Kingdom, personally traveled to the artisan's home to present him with his insignia, in the presence of his wife, Lady Janette McSkimming. By this admission, Chev. Darren Ainsworth joins the historic lineage of the first 1869 recipients: the indigenous Mapuche founders and leaders of the State.
