ClickHelp Launches AI-Friendly Documentation Update with New Reader UI, Markdown Access, and MCP Server Integration

ClickHelp, a cloud-based documentation platform for software teams and technical writers, has announced a new product release focused on making documentation accessible to AI tools, large language models, and modern search engines.

The shift toward AI-powered search and assistant tools has changed how users find information. When someone asks ChatGPT, Claude, or a similar tool a question, the answer often depends on whether that tool can read and understand the underlying documentation. With this release, ClickHelp addresses that challenge directly.

The centerpiece of the update is a completely rebuilt Reader UI, now available to all users. Unlike a standard interface refresh, this version was designed from the ground up to ensure that AI bots and search crawlers receive clean, structured access to page content - the same content a human reader would see. This enables tools like Google, ChatGPT, and Claude to accurately index and surface documentation in their responses.

Alongside the new interface, ClickHelp portals can now serve content in Markdown format - the standard preferred by developers and AI tools over HTML. A dedicated button allows authors and readers to copy any page as Markdown for use in AI chats. For teams that want AI agents to understand their entire portal at once, ClickHelp now supports llms.txt, a structured index of portal content designed specifically for large language models.

For more advanced AI workflows, ClickHelp introduced an MCP Server integration. This allows AI agents to connect directly to a documentation portal, read its contents, analyze the knowledge base, and assist with drafting new material. The MCP Server is available free of charge through April 2026.

The release also includes authoring improvements: a faster publishing flow built into the topic editor, multiple topic templates to help teams maintain consistent documentation structure, and a new visual editor for managing reusable content blocks.
