Andrea Pimpini: emerging academic voice in Macau's hospitality and diversification landscape

Andrea Pimpini, MSc candidate in International Integrated Resort Management and Research Assistant at the University of Macau, is gaining recognition as a young academic and guest lecturer in the fields of marketing, sustainability, and hospitality.

Andrea has delivered two guest lectures at the University of Macau on International Marketing and Social Media Marketing, and contributed opinion articles on Macau's "1+4" diversification strategy and medical tourism for TravelDailyNews Asia-Pacific and Eurasia Review.
His research interests focus on the relationship between marketing and sustainability reporting, value chain, and diversification strategy in tourism and hospitality to shape the brand image of cities.

His academic journey reflects a strong international dimension.
Andrea earned a BBA in Economics and Management from the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy), and studied abroad through the Erasmus+ Scholarship at the University of Split (Croatia) and the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (Germany) as part of the Ingenium European University Alliance.
Upon returning to Italy, he was invited to speak at the Rectorate of the University of Chieti-Pescara as a representative of Italian students, sharing his experiences abroad.

Now based in Macau for over three years where in the past he worked under working visa, Andrea combines academic research with editorial entrepreneurship. He is founder and editorial lead of TheGameTV.it, a digital magazine that has collaborated with brands such as Xiaomi IT and Xbox Game Studios.

Andrea's work demonstrates how young academics can contribute to Macau's evolving role in the Greater Bay Area, offering insights into sustainability, diversification, and international collaboration.

"I came here in Macau from Italy in December 2023. First I was a student, then I came back here as a worker under working visa, and at the second half of last year I went back to study at the University of Macau.
My plan is to stay here, continue with research and work to help and contribute to the "1+4" diversification strategy of the place" - Andrea
